Duke of Edinburgh
SILVER FINAL EXPEDITION
THE REPORT 2006

THE TEAM

STUCK BUS We arrived at Rowswell Hall at 7.00 in the morning, which was very early for skunks (and humans too). The trailer was loaded with our stuff and we jumped into the minibus which was crumbling at the seams. The journey took about five hours – five very long hours with wannabee gangsters in the back. They dumped us out a kilometre away from our start, which meant we had to climb an unnecessary hill, especially as we saw the minibus drive up the hill behind us. We laughed as it got stuck in the mud.

We walked up Moscar Moor, saw Ladybower reservoir in the distance and walked past the limestone quarry where Bradley assured us someone was waving at us, until I mentioned the climbing ropes! We walked down into Bamford remembering how heavy our bags were. One of our team members was flabbergasted by the incline of the hills and came up with the classic statement:

“OH MY GOD, IT'S HILLY!”

WALKING

We walked on through the mountainous terrain (well as mountainous as England gets, which isn't very mountainous, but we will use mountainous for this suitable analogy). Anyway, we walked through fields, heather, boggy land, fields and various other obstacles such as SHEEP!!

ROAD

THE VILLAGE ROAD

After walking, or rather sliding down a very steep track, we reached Bamford, where one member of our team didn't want to walk along the high street with her bag on her back, but all we did was cross a village road?
WEAR
WEAR

We walked across a weir which we all found fun for some reason, well it was!!

ROBIN

THE ROBIN

We walked up the track and Bradley showed us one of his friends – the Red Red Robin. He was very sweet, but when he tried to fly off, he didn't get very high, so I think he was injured. Poor thing!.
After seeing more dinner (that's sheep if you didn't know)… we walked under the railway bridge. Where one of our team escaped the photo … again… We then walked past the cement works where we found out that hope really does work… Yes, cheesy I know!

BABY

BUNDLE BABY

We arrived at Pindale Farm to find that the other silver team were there to greet us! Everyone decided to give us a friendly welcome by crushing Baby! We set up our tents… cooked a delicious dinner (alliteration there) of meatballs, smash and sweetcorn. Blondy ate pasta as she is a vegetable, even though she bought her own tin of beef ravioli (she’s blonde ok)… and took some more snaps.
